How we check AI cover letter generators
We rank AI cover letter generators, including Rezi, Teal, Dreamwork, ChatGPT, Kickresume, Jobscan and AIApply, from each vendor's own pricing and product pages, read on November 8, 2026. We picked by reader: who each tool serves best. We did not test the tools by hand, survey users, or count interview outcomes, and we say where a vendor publishes nothing.

What did we read?
For each tool we read its pricing page and its cover letter product page, and for Dreamwork its plans, cancellation and data pages. Where a page blocked a plain fetch, we read it through a rendering service and recorded what the page itself said. All 18 sources are on the sources page with links and dates.
What questions do we rank on?
- What does the free plan give you for cover letters: how many letters, and with what caps?
- What does the paid plan cost, and how does it bill?
- What does the generator read to write a letter: a job title only, the job description, your resume?
- What happens after the letter: do you send it, or does the tool?
- Which reader does each answer suit best?
We do not score letter quality, because judging that fairly would take hands-on testing we did not do. Every generator here produces a draft that needs editing, which is why our editing guide applies to all of them.
What did we not test?
- We did not sign up for paid plans or generate letters with each tool.
- We did not measure callback or interview rates. The only outcome figures on this site come from the published studies on do recruiters read cover letters?, cited with their samples.
- We did not collect reader reviews or testimonials.
How do we handle Dreamwork?
Dreamwork publishes Enclosure. Its facts come only from Dreamwork's own published plans and policies. It takes the picks those facts support: a letter per application at volume, sent for you. It does not take the overall pick, the free pick, or the career changer pick, because other tools fit those readers better. The footer of every page says who publishes this site.
